Cutting-edge production flexible packaging technologies, innovative products, more sustainable approach for the environment: having adopted the principles of social and industrial responsibility since its foundation, Carcano became at the beginning of 2019 a member of Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), giving life to a more responsible production and meet responsible sourcing expectations.
Being an ASI Member means to directly contribute to enhancing sustainability in the global aluminium industry.
The desired impact of ASI and thus of Carcano, involves the following key hot-topics:
Adopting the Circular Economy mission: sustainability and human rights principles are increasingly embedded in aluminium production, use and recycling
Bring transparency to supply chains efforts: companies increasingly invest in and reward improved practices and responsible sourcing for aluminium
Sharing best practices and collect evidence that resonate in order to increase awareness: aluminium continues to improve its sustainability credentials with stakeholders
The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) is a global, multi-stakeholder, non-profit, standards setting and certification organisation. It is the result of producers, users and stakeholders in the aluminium value chain coming together with a commitment to maximising the contribution of aluminium to a sustainable society.
ASI’s objectives are to:
define globally applicable standards for sustainability performance and material chain-of-custody for the aluminium value chain
promote measurable and continual improvements in the key environmental, social and governance impacts of aluminium production, use and recycling
develop a credible assurance and certification system that both mitigates the risks of non-conformity with ASI standards and minimises barriers to broad scale implementation
